We are all too aware that most of these farmhouses have more than one history. Different owners over the years leave their mark: making changes and additions, pulling walls down, building others. In Italy, and also in Le Marche, where history is told in centuries or even millennia rather than years and decades, the origins of a building are more than likely than not a far cry from the most recent owners' aim. But sometimes the two coincide in mysterious ways with happy results.
